Some heart rhythm changes come and go, which makes them hard to catch during a short visit. A Holter monitor records over a longer period to help find answers.
A racing, pounding, fluttering or skipping heartbeat.
Feeling light-headed or unsteady without a clear reason.
Fainting or near-fainting episodes that need investigating.
Checking for an irregular rhythm your doctor may suspect.
Following up on results from an ECG or other heart tests.
Checking how your heart is responding to medication or treatment.
A Holter monitor is a small, lightweight recorder that connects to sticky electrodes on your chest. It continuously records your heart’s electrical activity, usually for 24 hours or longer, while you go about your usual day.
Because it captures your heart rhythm during everyday activities, including sleep, work and exercise, it can pick up changes that a standard ECG in the clinic may not show.
Small, portable and worn under your clothes
Records continuously, usually 24 hours or longer
